Old meets new as Spitfires land at Blackpool

July 29, 2008 at 00:00

The Spitfires were just two of the aircraft taking part in the Windermere Air Show and were using Blackpool Airport as a base for take offs, landings and refuelling.

A member of the Lancashire Constabulary, who was passing through the airport, captured the Spitfire taxiing past a 737 in a stark contrast of old and new aviation technology.

Unfortunately Spitfires rarely fly nowadays, save for the purpose of annual air shows, but you can take advantage of fantastically low fares from Blackpool with Flying to 10 fantastic European destinations, including Menorca, new from Blackpool from just £55.99 one way including taxes, visit our low fare finder for your great value flights!
