Jet2holidays has helped make a young girl’s dream come true after winning a family holiday to Majorca.

We teamed up with Global Radio and its Heart and Capital stations to give away a staggering 166 holidays to people across the UK during January. All listeners needed to do was tune in to their regional radio station and share their own, funny holiday stories by entering the online Passport to Discovery competition for a chance to win a holiday of their choice.

Helen Terry, of Newcastle, did just that when she tuned in to Heart Radio North East and shared her most memorable holiday moment which involved her daughter Sophie, who was two at the time, being sick in the swimming pool on a family break to Tenerife, resulting in the pool having to be closed for a deep clean.

Mrs Terry, a former overseas holiday representative herself, was delighted when she found out she had won a dream trip to Majorca for herself, her husband David, Sophie (who is now seven) and her three-year-old son Alex, after having a tough few years financially.

Mrs Terry, 43, decided to film the moment she told Sophie she had won the competition on her mobile phone, but was not prepared for her daughter’s reaction, which has now been viewed nearly 4,000 times on Twitter.

Mrs Terry said: “When I told Sophie her reaction was just priceless, you could just tell how much it meant to her, she was crying she was so happy, it was heart-warming to see her so happy. We are really excited to go to Majorca as it will be some quality family time for us all. We have used Jet2holidays before and know how good they are so we really can’t wait.”

“This year we were going to go on a short caravan holiday in the UK for a couple of nights but I heard about the Jet2holidays competition and thought I would enter and tell the story of how Sophie had been so excited to go in the swimming pool as soon as we had got off the plane in Tenerife the night before, but then as soon as she could go in the next morning she was sick. I was so excited and overwhelmed when I found out I had won the holiday to Majorca.”
