- Ian Doubtfire will run in the London Marathon for sight charity, ORBIS

Ian Doubtfire, Managing Director of leading leisure airline has signed up to this year’s London Marathon in aid of international sight charity, ORBIS.

This will be the second marathon Ian has taken part in, having previously raised £5,800 for ORBIS running a 26 mile course in the Cayman Islands three years ago.’s Managing Director is hoping to exceed this amount and raise £6,000 by being part of the country’s top fundraising event which will take place on Sunday 22nd April this year.

The money raised will help the charity to continue to fight blindness in developing countries. The non-profit organisation relies on an active pool of approximately 500 volunteers to provide clinical and technical expertise at local hospitals as well as on board its Flying Eye Hospital, a unique ophthalmic surgical and training centre, located within a DC-10 aircraft using volunteer pilots.

Ian said, “Whilst I have run a marathon before, the older you are the harder it gets! The last one I did was over in the Cayman Islands so it will be great to do one on home turf this time round. The London Marathon always gets so much support and I’m hoping those cheering on the day will help me through it.

“ORBIS is a fantastic charity fighting blindness in developing countries, where 90 per cent of the blind reside, and I am delighted to be able to support the amazing work they do.”
